Like any good mother, her desire was to have her child grow bright and bold, and to be full of good humor and wit, and to be generous and courageous and kind.
For, being such, how could anyone not have the most beautiful story?
After all, what is the code and concept of life, of living, of humanity, if it is not to find one's calling and to have that calling be greater than one's self; if it is not to pursue that calling and complete it with joyous self-respect?
"Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent, and independent with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play." Henri Matisse (French Painter).
"It is a happy talent to know how to play." Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Play is training for the unexpected. It is one of the brain's favorite means of exceptional learning. A healthy brain is a prized possession, necessary to a meaningful life, essential to serviceable longevity. In light of these profound discoveries and many more, it is curious the kinds of environments that discourage play, dismissing it as frivolous. Curious indeed. And suspicious!
What is play? Play is our spirit's vitamins and our soul's transport. Play is an exploration of life's possibilities. Play is the laboratory of earth's most consequential minds. The great instinctive forces of civilized life are rooted in the soil of play.
Sadly, play is often relegated to the world of children or as childish. Even so, let children play. The more aggressive we are at wanting our children to adult, that much quicker play is discouraged, styfling their growth and their creativity, their discovery and their coming to grips with who they are - a masterpiece - and who they could become. The effect of this great loss is society's grave suffering.
Play, as in engaging in an activity for the enjoyment of it, is our best and most enduring mechanism for socializing and bonding. When learning stops, growth ceases. When play stops friendship freezes. When friendships freeze, frictions increase. Play is healthy. It is immersive. Call it what it is: life's serious business.
We ought never forget how to play. Play enhances romance - more longlasting, more fruitful, sweeter. It nourishes life. It soothes the palate. Playing is smart.
Enjoy actionable discoveries continuously shared - smartly - particularly those that uplift, inspire, promote harmony, expand opportunities, exemplify beauty, and reveal wonder, in other words, those proven to strengthen our emboldened exercise of genuine love through all of love's fertile dimensions, supplying those of us who are blessed and inspired to take action with necessary skillsets to be awesome in our real world. Those who go out from their echo-chambers, smartly immersing their senses - sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste - into new and meaningful activities, emerge healthier, happier, more enriched in body, mind and spirit. What did you find?
"They wanted to be supported, not belittled. They wanted to be coached-up, not torn-down. They wanted to be motivated, not pressured or bullied. That was my time out, and I chose to change! Being a dogmatic dictator may produce compliant little soldiers, but it doesn't develop champions in life. It is so much easier in any walk of life to dictate and give orders than to actually figure out how to motivate someone to want to be better." Coach Valorie Kondos Field. Wouldn't it be awesome, being in the presence of each other with never a word uttered or heard, or riding the waves of each other's actions with not nigh a whisper of intention, that each of us should by that presence and that experience grow, maturing into champions? That would be awesome.
One's values - core, aspirational or emergent - are never better than the outward experiencing of each, no matter how golden the ink written with, how loud the voice speaking it, nor how oft repetead. The taste of a pudding is in the eating, and its path to the tongue is gated through sight and smell. But of course, there is always a forged bypass.

Today's pivot QUESTION: let's say you've grown into an awareness or gravitated to the position that a healthy mind in a healthy body in fellowship with healthy relationships is a personal state of phenomenal significance
- what will you do to attain, sustain, or reframe your values to be in flow with that wisdom?

Your Body - Your Mind
My perspective of a healthy mind in a healthy body is one in which a few joyful words rise to the surface of my contemplation then spout skyward: energy, vibrancy, vigor, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, vitality; wisdom; champion. There goes a healthy body. There goes a healthy mind. Remarkably triumphant they are. Just then gravity picks them, each, like feathers. Energy, vibrancy, vigor, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, vitality; these float from yonder into the heft of my quickened breaths, where they dance with pleasure at my wonder, but not for long. What about you? What's your perspective? You see, before I could blink, all around me these words begin to settle - spirit less - fluff - scattered remiges and rectrices and rachis - all settling beneath my shallow breath. Then it occurs to me: my body, my mind! Epiphany! Alas, who will gather these flutters into sustained flight?A healthy mind needs a healthy body. A healthy body needs a health mind.Neither is much without the other. Who will fuel the assembled lot? How? Action. Action. Action. Actions are accurate measures of one's value of life. Aha! Action. Ah, there goes. A New Champion. A champion in life! What's your perspective? How is your body? How is your mind? Here is a perspective: you are what you eat.
Life is about moments. It is better to create fresh moments than to wait for them. And far better still to create them fun. Is it Dale Carnegie who said, "People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing."? It is a strange thing. One person returning, exhausted by his or her journey, finds weeds grown wild about the yard, and no sooner, having safely settled at home, repairs to the yard on butt and knees, and plucks weed after weed with meditative unweariness and with wonder at the slick green and with gratitude for the fruitfulnees of earth and for the scents of newer planting and for the dutifulness of aerating worms. Another person, at the sight of such weeds, sits by his or her window, day-in, day-out, cursing the seeds that created each and every one of them. It is a strange thing. Isn't it?
"Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny." _ Mohandas Gandhi
How do you create memorable experiences? For yourself? For your family? For your friends? For your customers? For your community? For your constituents? For the world? Is it fun? How well do such enhanced experiences align with your values?
Some people turn their wounds into wisdom.
Are there healed wounds you've reshaped and repurposed into value? Or that has caused you to effectively reframe yourvalues? Who are the beneficiaries? How aligned are your current actions with your new values? How instrumental are your values toward the achievement of your vision? Do your values help you create memorable experiences? Do your values influence the delivery of great value in return for awesome value? Are your life's exchanges profitable?
The following poem expresses a communal value that is often expounded with great spirit and power to peoples across the world.
THE NEW COLOSSUS by Emma Lazarus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Were you to embrace such a sentiment in the creation of your values, would you consider it (for yourself) a core value, an aspirational value, or an emergent value?

If you are not getting better, you are in fact getting worse. Personal excellence, the champion's lifestyle, is one in which who you were last year, last month, last week, or yesterday, is not the same as who you are today. Growth is evidenced by real change. Rewind your tape: check on your balance, focus and rhythm. Health in body, mind and spirit is a prerequisite for fruitful living. Maintain good health. If you are not having fun, you will not continue whole-heartedly through the long game. Healthy is the new skinny. Remember: It is YOUR LIFE; only you can live it.Live joyfully; it's profitable.

"Know what you own. Understand what you claim. Believe you can achieve what you conceive then call it by its name. Mine! The extent to which you have this clarity of mind, this purity of understanding, this strength of belief, you have the fire, the fuel, the impetus, the passion, the determination, the willpower you require to pursue and retrieve your truest desire. But do not claim what does not belong to you. It will not keep you . . . it will suffer you but for only so long."
You are valued. You are important. What you experience is important. Your intention matters. You are a whole being. You are a true wonder. You diminish yourself whenever you pit valued elements of who you are against vital elements of who you are: your intuitive self against your intellectual self, your rational self against your emotional self, your gut against your heart against your head. Don't be put at war against yourself: you are a masterpiece. An intricate being. Human!

Life: it is a dance. It gets better with practice; its music is in your heart and in your soul and in your blood and in your bones. Life; it is a dance. It gets better with practice. You have a partner – your spirit. You can have a party if you like, but choose smartly who you invite, for life – your life – is a dance. It gets better with practice, unless you stop the music or so crowd your dance floor there is no space to move or be moved within it. Explore. Yes, life; it is a dance. It gets better with practice until the dance becomes the dancer and the dancer becomes the dance and life and all of existence becomes a singular flow. Yes, life; it is a dance. It gets better with practice. Dance.

In general, my inclination is to be the bearer of dos rather than don'ts, so it took me way more than a few lingering moments to decide whether to capitulate and share this chunk of awesomeness from Roy T Bennet (The Light in the heart). Just as I was about to chicken and do an innie-minie-mynie-moe, my senses awoke - uh! - this is every bit an awesome crop of highly recommended fun dos. So here it is, pardon my delay. Enjoy.
“Don't Just
Don't just learn, experience.
Don't just read, absorb.
Don't just change, transform.
Don't just relate, advocate.
Don't just promise, prove.
Don't just criticize, encourage.
Don't just think, ponder.
Don't just take, give.
Don't just see, feel.
Don’t just dream, do.
Don't just hear, listen.
Don't just talk, act.
Don't just tell, show.
Don't just exist, live.”
And that's how one goes about creating memorable experiences. And grow! Billboard Question in The Arena: If all clocks disappear from earth how would you determine your time zone?

Across the nation and around the world there is a long rumble.
It is a rumble so loud it strikes ready ears as a distant clap of a fierce thunder. It is a rumble so low, it rides beneath the noise of a thousand human fears; it can no longer be heard. Fear of flight, fear of heights, fear of sand, fear of snow, fear of monsters in the closet, fear of bugs in the pillow, fear of cats, fear of bats, fear of strangers at the door, fear of being lost, fear of being laughed at, fear of being stuck in the toilet bowl, fear of whites, fear of blacks, fear of browns, blues and yellows, fear of nakedness, fear of the unknown, fear of being hurt.
