Like any good mother, her desire was to have her child grow bright and bold, and to be full of good humor and wit, and to be generous and courageous and kind.
For, being such, how could anyone not have the most beautiful story?
After all, what is the code and concept of life, of living, of humanity, if it is not to find one's calling and to have that calling be greater than one's self; if it is not to pursue that calling and complete it with joyous self-respect?
What are your most cherished values? Say, your top five! How well do you understand and embody them? Are they more representative of who you are or what you are striving to become? What is the status of your progress?
What about the values of your organization / business / social circle? Can you explain those values? Do you embrace them? Would you say whole-heartedly, half-heartedly, as is convenient, or hardly? What's their impact on outcome?
Meaningful values clarify identity and reflect true identity.
Frutiful values propel worthy causes and genuine calls.
Here is an important exercise:
Identify a well-known (validated) valued person / company / organization / social circle you admire on grounds of character / contribution / impact on community / traits you aspire to.
Find & List that entity's expressed (validated) values.
Identify a well-known person / company / organization / social circle who is validated to be corrupt or flunked on grounds of character / contribution / impact on community / traits you denounce.
Find & List that entity's expressed (validated) values.
Compare and contrast those two sets of validated values? How do those values relate to your personal values? What is your conclusion?
Enjoy actionable discoveries continuously shared - smartly - particularly those that uplift, inspire, promote harmony, expand opportunities, exemplify beauty, and reveal wonder, in other words, those proven to strengthen our emboldened exercise of genuine love through all of love's fertile dimensions, supplying those of us who are blessed and inspired to take action with necessary skillsets to be awesome in our real world. The Triumph of High Achievements
Crisis reveals character. Deep crises reveal deep character. One of the luxuries of sport is this: any person may live vicariously through their perspective heroes and anti-heroes. One is allowed to imagine himself or herself in very dramatic situations without having to face the consequences of the experience. It is (totally) an exercise of imagination. And opinion!
The life of the athlete, however, neither begins nor ends in the arena; his or hers is an ongoing experience that leads in and out of the arena. It is the texture of the whole journey that makes the athlete so enthrallingly different. A spectator sees but a moment. It is the journey that accounts for the unique difference.
The supreme athlete's life is a unique creation in diverse ways, firm elements of which are a) a relentless desire to improve and to do what it takes to be better at every stage, and b) a peculiar enjoyment and engagement of the struggle getting from cornerstone to milestone and beyond.
Three fixities along the supreme athlete's journey, which translate well into any worthwhile pursuit are:
1. Desire. Such athletes want something so genuinely and believe so strongly in its attainability, it is a well-spring from which their push toward achievement is energized. It is not unusual that such an athlete's desire is not necessarily symbolized by what is being rewarded in the arena. Their desire is quite often not some tangible (material) thing. But it can be.
2. Discipline. Work ethic. We hear it all the time. Work ethic. Yes, attainment often takes a tremendous amount of work (and that dependent on the nature and environment of one's journey). This discipline is beyond work ethic; it is a particular mindset, routine set and behavioral set steadily fixed toward being willing, ready and able to attain. This is quite different and far more encompassing than acummulating pools of sweat.
3. Dedication. The wholeheartedness, commitment, single-mindedness and enthusiasm with which supreme athletes focus on an achievement is over the longhaul unsurpassable. It is a function of rooted sustainable values.
"Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny." _ Mohandas Gandhi
What did you conclude upon completing our exercise on values suggested in the opening discourse, Rooted fruit-bearing Values, of this episode?
Did it spur you to review or reflect upon your personal values in any fresh, new or otherwise authentic way?
There is a peculiar 'values' dynamic that reveals itself in the experience of daily life, the elements of which we've found to be clarifying and enlightening and which we trust you will also discover and expand upon as you progress through our current exploration.
Perhaps, you've presumed onto yourself a set of values accumulated from your relationships and environment. Perhaps you've adopted values you were taught or which you believe to be worthy of ownership. Perhaps you've built an organization or business or community for which you participated in a process of professing a certain set of values. And there they are! Perhaps you know them by heart. Perhaps they are situated somewhere you can easily access. Perhaps you've forgotten all about them. Each and every story of it is telling.
In this moment, however, I'll suggestively highlight an overarching discovery on values.
You might want to avoid hollow values: pretty-sounding prevalent words. On the slightest slap of investigation, these prove to be practically meaningless, toothless, bland, and downright dishonest. They are, in an open sense, harmless while on the inside they are viciously destructive. They do not correlate. You might want to avoid hollow values. You might want to be sure you are not harboring them unwittingly. They are often quite pretty - shiny - impressive on paper - slippery across the tongue - high-sounding - ear-catching. A devil in disguise. Beware of hollow values. It's a job for the mirror. They are there to impress! Wall-paper! You might want to avoid hollow values.
You might want to acquire profitable values: these are fruit-bearing values; they nurture and build you; they fertilize your efforts; they are not interested in show; you look in the mirror and you see a daily difference; there is growth. You might want to acquire profitable values. They are into you - totally. They are there for you! They want the best of you and for you. You don't have to spell such values out to passersby; their flowers will blossom and bear fruits. You don't have to paint such values across your face; the wealth of their presence will feed those around you. These values are fruitful. Well-learned. You might want to acquire profitable values.
The profitable values we are exploring, which we've found highly transferable for athletes and which correlate well with the practicing values and transformational habits and routines of achievers pursuiing and achieving excellence, may be categorized as follows:
beneficial - useful - advantageous - helpful - of use - of service - valuable - productive - worthwhile - rewarding - fruitful - enriching - illuminating - informative - well-spent.
Those who know better are better positioned to be better!
Action Options
What is your state of desire? This is an ideal time for a profitable check-up! How do you keep your desire in profitable relation to your vision and growth? One option I find helpful is Quiet Time. Quiet Time is a place where one can do a thorough check on all aspects of one's operational well-being, and keep regualr tabs on it. What other options would you consider?
Transformational habits and profitable routines are a solid infratstructure for maintaining disciplined relationships with each of the essential elements of life's progression and pursuit. Behavior is an unmistakeable indicator of who and what we are. Behavior are the iron rails of your journey's trajectory. This is a perfect time to ensure habits are comfortably aligned with vows, intentions and professions.
How do you assess your dedication? Are you dedicated to your process or outcomes, to your relationships or your pursuit? Are any alignments causing you to lose rhythm and focus? How do you keep in balance?
What actions would you consider in order to achieve and-or maintain excellence?
Much of our world sees us in the arena; we see ourselves all the way every day - barring unconsciousness - and even that with a serious bias. Life sure is fun with or without 2020 vision. But never forget: It is YOUR LIFE; only you can live it.
Take Action
"Know what you own. Understand what you claim. Believe you can achieve what you conceive then call it by its name. Mine! The extent to which you have this clarity of mind, this purity of understanding, this strength of belief, you have the fire, the fuel, the impetus, the passion, the determination, the willpower you require to pursue and retrieve your truest desire. But do not claim what does not belong to you. It will not keep you . . . it will suffer you but for only so long."
You are valued. You are important. What you experience is important. Your intention matters. You are a whole being. You are a true wonder. You diminish yourself whenever you pit valued elements of who you are against vital elements of who you are: your intuitive self against your intellectual self, your rational self against your emotional self, your gut against your heart against your head. Don't be put at war against yourself: you are a masterpiece. An intricate being. Human!

Should The MountainBe Moved?
Times can be so different. People can be so different. Circumstances can be so different. Responses can be so different. Each of us comes to a moment with a perspective that is infinitely unique and vastly different from anyone else's. I overheard an old song, and this is what its phenomenal singer was singing: "Lord don't move my mountain, but give me the strength to climb. And Lord, don't take away my stumbling blocks, but lead me all around." Hmm? Ain't that something? Oooh, especially discovering who wrote it and who was singing it. Now that's really something. Athletes come in all forms, styles and sizes. Who else is heading into the arena? Are you ready for its challenge? Billboard Question In The Arena: Which would you rather: the mountain be moved or the strength to climb?

Across the nation and around the world there is a long rumble.
It is a rumble so loud it strikes ready ears as a distant clap of a fierce thunder. It is a rumble so low, it rides beneath the noise of a thousand human fears; it can no longer be heard. Fear of flight, fear of heights, fear of sand, fear of snow, fear of monsters in the closet, fear of bugs in the pillow, fear of cats, fear of bats, fear of strangers at the door, fear of being lost, fear of being laughed at, fear of being stuck in the toilet bowl, fear of whites, fear of blacks, fear of browns, blues and yellows, fear of nakedness, fear of the unknown, fear of being hurt.
