The HOLY BIBLE
Reading the BIBLE (Holy Scriptures) gifts us a never-ending marvelous transformative freeing experience, highly recommended, often misunderstood or misrepresented, but enriching when embraced.
What we (on The Journey) have found to be quite often the case is this: rarely folks who at the quick (perhaps even innocently) consider themselves to have read the bible have ever actually read it - not cover to cover (book by book). Then read it again. Lit. Enriched. Glowing. Alive.
What frequently occurs are readings (even regular readings) of familiar passages, preferred stories, samples suitable to certain preferences, repetitive quotes more often than not out-of-context, sometimes used heartily to inspire and encourage, more often employed to abuse, to bind, to control, to fake power, or just out of habit, or to posture for acceptance in like-minded communities, pressured. The strangest of all, now so rampant across digital platforms (social media, etc.), such toxic habits out themselves in a blink. Vacuous. Evil. Predatory. Hypocrisy.
Reading the whole bible (in its wholeness) is a marvelous intimate experience.
