Celebrating Women of Character, Courage & Commitment |
Rosa Parks: She simply decided 'up with this I will not put,' and in so doing rocked the whole world into beginning a change.
Here is what followed upon her decision not to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger that day:
- It sparked the Alabama bus boycott
- It foreshadowed the ascendance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
- It led inexorable to an ongoing march towards racial equality
- It swelled a booming soul-force wave for racial equality across many nations
Rosa Parks was no militant; she simply decided enough was enough! In other words: I'm way too tired to let you put your mess on me today. She is a Mighty Woman.

What Rosa Parks said:
"You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right. "
"I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people."
"I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear."
"Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome."
"The only tired I was, was tired of giving in." |
