There is no law (Jewish Law) against such things.

Dreamers Hill

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I AM NOT COME TO DESTROY, but TO FULFILL.

Being Fit

. . . .

Not that I have already attained or have already been perfected, but I follow after it so that I may lay hold of that for which I was seized by Christ Jesus.

I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

I press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

I am made in the image of God, not your image of God.

The Young Voice!

We often loose that, even as adults in this day, because of our over complicated world - a world that keeps us moving, a world that keeps us living in ways just to make ends meet.

And sometimes as adults we loose our young voice, because we've been damaged and hurt, and pain exists in our life.

The dreams that we had as young folks when we were asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" - that young vulnerable experience of knowing that you could do all things, that you could be anything, that you could be!

We loose our dream! Because we grow up!

Now don't get me wrong, we have to grow up!

But in the damage of that experience we often loose that young voice, that prophetic voice, that liberating voice, that voice that succombs to the pressure of our world rather than the fiath of the God that is in us.

Out beyond ideas of right doing and wrong doing there is a field. I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.

"Thriving" in the wilderness

Be transformed by the renewing of your MIND, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I was hungry and you gave Me food. I was thirsty and you gave Me drink. I was a stranger and you took Me inI was naked and you clothed Me. I was sick and you visited Me. I was in prison and you came to Me.

Who is that coming up from the wilderness,
    like columns of smoke,
perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
with all the fragrant powders of the merchant?

When the water in the skin was gone, Hagar placed the child under one of the shrubs then went and sat across from him at a distance of about a bowshot, for she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the child.” She sat across from him, and lifted up her voice and wept.

And God heard the boy’s voice. Then the angel of God called out of heaven to Hagar and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is. Arise, pick up the boy and hold him in your hands, for I will make him a great nation.”

Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.

God was with the boy; and he grew and lived in the wilderness and became an archer. He lived in the Wilderness of Paran.

I will run and not be weary. I will walk and not faint. His banner over me is love.

You are altogether beautiful, my love;
there is no flaw in you.

King Solomon

On my bed, night after night, I sought him whom my soul loves.
I sought him and found him not.

We've seen the circle from the side of wonder, and been through it from there, where its emblems of totality and wholeness and timelessnes and perfection and eternity remain unchanged. But many enter the circle from the other side, and find it to be an enclosure, an echo chamber, a trap tricked into endless revolving, a black hole through to never-ending turning, a suffocating churn of inescapable unchangeableness. Within there too is a yin and a yang. Comfortable isolation. Crammed seclusion. A Quiet Place. Disconnected. A Restless Mind. Assimilated. A space where metaphorical truths are literal falsehoods. The wilderness! Meanwhile, some perceiving themselves to be situated on the outside of the circle wrestle with awkward questions: how many sides does a circle have, how deep is its enclave, and how wide?

We are exploring, from the inside, the nature of this remarkable circle.

Solace - Connection - Kinship - Support

Belief is powerful. Perception is real.

Our time-warp transporter is programmed to land inside one of humanity's most notable wildernesses (Luke 4; Matthew 4; Mark 1) where Mark sees wild beasts, and at a moment when Jesus is hungry, having fasted for forty days, and just as Satan (the devil), having be-deviled Jesus throughout this long fast, is about to make another grand appearance, which Mark does not detail, and about which John is silent.

We are poised to see and hear the devil. We are primed for contact with ministering angels. We are positioned to eavesdrop on an intimate conversation with profound implications and repetitious reverberations. We are about to witness a hungry Jesus walking and talking with Satan. Some of us will experience something quite fantastic! Some may wonder what's the big deal!

Therefore, consider this well before stepping into fate's bubble: no one entering this moment can prefigure the nature of what another will see or hear or experience should that other engage such a transformational torque as this. Many are stuck in similar time-warps, unable to move on: some so torn not wanting to leave; some too struck, not knowing how to leave; some so lost in that flickering square where it seems God has every bit spoken and long since stopped speaking - Period! Fullstop! These are left scouring ashes for embers of truth. Consider this well. Then breathe.

I see Jesus!

Satan arrives!

"If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."

“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."

Satan is taking Jesus high up to that spot from where it is possible to behold all the kingdoms of the world.

“I will give You all this power and their glory, for it has been delivered to me. And I give it to whomever I will.  If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours.”

“Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and God only shall you serve."

Satan knows scriptures too. Satan takes Jesus to Jerusalem. Satan sets Jesus on the pinnacle of the temple.

“If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge concerning you, to preserve you,’ and ‘In their hands they shall hold you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone."

“It is also written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’"

Got any more convenient scriptures to toss this way, Satan? What else did God say, which you might use to confound or entice me?

"I'll be back!"

Ministering Angels arrive. They attend to Jesus!

Share your experience.

"I am the door. If anyone enters through Me, that one will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.   The thief does not come, except to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." Jesus, Son of Man, Prince of Glory, Redeemer.

tour de force

Who made the mountains? Who made the trees? Who made the rivers flow to the sea? Who sends the rain when the earth is dry? Who made the flowers to bloom in the spring? Who made the song for the robins to sing? Who hung the moon in the starry sky? Yes, all that and way much more! Our mind. Our body. Our spirit. Our soul.

Would 'that' be your mark or a scar?

Come, let us all be friends for once,
Let us make life easy on us,
Let us be lovers and loved ones,
The earth shall be left to no one.

Yunus Emre

"It is not our experience that makes our lives, it is what we do with it."

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

You raise me up to more than I can be.

Missing The Mark

Do you remember those days? In mother's nest? I do! Some for sure! And what about nights? Uh! Do I? Are those still fresh in your memory? So fresh, could it be because you are still snuggling under mother's feathers? Covered by her wings! Ah! Does anyone ever truly leaves a mother's nest?

Perhaps, this latter is a very good question, and a frightening prospect if one's life-goal is to fly away - far, far, far, so very far away memories fade into oblivion and newer realms shine glory on the far side of the horizon.

Enter - pregnant echoes of laughter.

Indeed, there are four things that come not back: the spoken word, the sped arrow, the past life, the missed opportunity. Life is peculiar.

I come from a very large family, yet, miracle of miracles, I am uniquely singular.

I sit high-high on piles upon piles of rich stories and missed opportunities.

How about you? Where are you seated?

Hold onto your knees. A certain situation comes to mind - one that repeated itself quite often in my nested-hood, shining light through browning leaves.

See what you might find.

Numerous the occasion, my mother would admonish or correct or give guidance to one or another of us, and in so doing issue a direction, or an order, or a rule to be followed by that sibling being addressed.

Has this ever happened to you?

Then comes the police - eh-ahem - I mean the watchdog - no-no-what-I-mean-to-say is - one or another sibling, eyes fixed to see if the one who was admonished or corrected is following the directive or order or rule or guidance in strict obedience to our mother's clarity. Remember?

Off sprints the police - I mean watchdog - no, what I mean to say is - that very concerned sibling who wants to ensure mother's orders are being dutifully and delightfully followed to every crossed tee and dotted I by every last one of us, and feels obliged, gleefully, to report any failing to mother-authority.

You'd think the ultimate lesson - do the right thing - would easily be learned, and quite quickly! Once is good enough in view of possible pain, isn't it? Nope! I promise you this situation would be repeated time and again, and the outcome was - ALWAYS - pretty much the same.

Perhaps, secretly, it was an urge to find that one time the outcome might well be different, and an eagerness to see what that difference would be that kept it recycling. I don't know.

Nuances aside, here is how it would generally go.

Thanks to the heavens!

For, in the excitement to deliver juicy news, how it is that that police - a-hem, I did it again - I mean that reporter - oh dear me - OK, lets stay with reporter - how it is that that reporter never falls over a chair or slips down the stairs or runs into a wall and 'bust a lip' in the sweet enthusiasm to reach Mother Commander and throw a sister or a brother under the bus, I have no idea.

Well, actually I do: life just isn't fair.

Thank graces for small mercies. Seriously! S . E . R . I . O . U . S . L . Y.

Not all siblings had the exact-same delivering approach, mind you.

Some tended toward the likes of sirens and trumpets and bells and whistles so that maximum embarassment would be achieved on delivery of the news. Some tended more toward whispering so that maximum surprise would be achieved on delivery of the news. Regardless of the interweaving drama between spotting and snitching, the central outcome was always pretty much the same.

Here goes!

Snitch: Mommy-mommy-mommy! Remember when you told (insert sibling name) to not blah-blah-blah-blah-da-da-de-blah! Well, mommy, I just saw (insert another sibling's name or original sibling's name) doing blah-blah-blah-blah-da-da-de-blah, just like you told (insert original sibling's name) not to do.

Mommy: Was I talking to you when I told (insert the sinner's name) blah-blah-blah-blah-da-da-de-blah? Tell me: was I talking to you?

Snitch: No, mommy! But I heard you say . . .

Mommy: If my word was meant for you I would have called out your name. Did I call your name and told such-and-such to you?

Snitch: No, mommy.

Mommy: Then blow your own nose!

Snitch: But, mommy, (he/she) disobeyed you!

Mommy: Did you hear what I just told you?

Snitch: Yes, mommy.

Mommy: What did I tell you?

Snitch: Mind my own business.

Mommy: Then chop-chop! It will do you a great deal of good and save you a lot of useless heartache if you mind your business. Since you are at it, go and tell (insert sibling's name) to come to me then make way. Find something constructive to do or I will make a way for you. When your eyes are set on passers by marvelous opportunities are passing you. You've missed a few.

Who-ah! A voice crying in the wilderness!

Here is a tongue-in-cheek demonstration - I repeat - it is tongue-in-cheek; but it highlights something profound (I think). Who can figure out what it is?

Here is a parable!

A Donkey Wearing Lion Skin

A donkey dressed in a lion's skin roamed about amusing himself by frightening all the animals he encountered.

Upon meeting a fox, the donkey tried to scare him as well, but the fox heard the donkey's voice, and said, "You would've scared me too, but your braying gave you away."

"I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them from My Father’s hand. My Father and I are one." All things are possible. Start with what is just outside your comfort zone. Believe. Act upon it. Step outside and breathe.
