PROVERBS

He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a man of understanding keeps silent.

He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter.

Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.

Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.

The righteous is a guide to his neighbor, But the way of the wicked leads them astray.

In The Light

Let your light shine.

CEO In Waiting

strong - brave - capable - valued - gifted - possessed of joy, hope, peace and love - treasured - entrusted - loved - courageous

This was sent in by Jennifer Morrison.

In life, some may walk, others may run, but remember the Lord gave the tortoise and the horse the same days to reach Noah's ark.

Your journey might be rough and tough but you will definitely get to your destination.

  • Jacob looked at Joseph and saw a good son! The ten brothers looked at Joseph and saw a useless dreamer!
  • The travellers looked at Joseph and saw a slave!! Potiphar looked at Joseph and saw a fine servant!!
  • Potiphar's wife looked at Joseph and saw a potential boyfriend! The prison officers saw in Joseph a prisoner!

How wrong were all of them!

  • God looked at Joseph and saw a Prime Minister of Egypt in waiting!!

Don't be discouraged by what people see in you!! Be encouraged by what God sees in you!!

Never underrate the person next to you because you never know what the Lord has deposited in that person. Your maid may be a Chief Executive Officer in waiting for a company which shall employ your child.

Your garden-boy may be a president in waiting.

(Remember David got the anointing of becoming a King while he was a simple child herding sheep. Esther was a simple orphaned girl yet she was a Queen in waiting).

Thank you Jen.

Kick off your shoes!

There are many types of leadership styles. Twelve is a good number, some more successful or more appropriate than others in particular situations and settings. We'll come to that later.

How about we sit back for a bit, scratch our heads (or each other's), and start on the inside (or us)? Thoughts on becoming a leader!

Something To Consider

Yes, I know. It's kind of an 'old-age' version. 'Twas all I could find. Guess it's not in vogue any more. But it'll get the feet stomping.

Oh, Im feeling so cheesy now!

In Counsel with The Chief

One of the better pieces of advice I've gotten along life's way is to seek out and have a mentor, a coach, and/or a counselor applicable to my journey and my calling, each of which I trust, each of whom trusts me. It works. I recommend it.
Here is something else that works (for me). Give it a try, see if it works for you. Share what works for you.

* * *

I have had the privilege (and responsibility) of leading many kinds of teams to various levels of accomplishment.

With some teams (as designed or as was necessary) I preceded each working session with a private meeting with the boss. We shared information. We reviewed goals, discussed challenges, revealed successes. I got direction.

With some teams (as designed or as was necessary) I began our working sessions with a huddle. We listened to each other. We encouraged each other. We got on the same page together. This made it tremendously easier to support each other, remembering that our team would not need to be in existence if the task was simple and easy or brainless. Tough and challenging REQUIRED us.

It worked wonders. We amazed ourselves. Tremendous successes. Accolades!

Epiphany!

Uh! Why didn't I think of it before? Nevermind, it changed the NATURE and QUALITY of my prayer life. Here's how. See if it will do the same for you.

We have access to the Big Chief - open door policy in full effect! Why not a similar approach as it regards leading our every day lives. (Now, I'm not talking being cheesy-cheesy.) I am referring to a particular aspect of daily living - life! (internal laughter.) It's a relationship!

Here is a bit of what I mean:

  • a child knows mommy/daddy cares - runs to mommy/daddy every few minutes: mammy-daddy I bang my head; mammy-daddy I stubbed my toe; mammy-daddy she looked at me; mammy-daddy, he took my toy, how come I don't have that toy, I don't like this toy; I want another toy; mammy-mammy-daddy-daddy, needy-needy, cryie-cryie, wantie-wantie, wishy-washy
  • a leader, a CEO of life, organizes timely heart-to-heart (soul-to-soul, if you prefer) dialogues with the Big Chief; reviews goals, discusses challenges, exchanges high fives, syncs up on life - gets on the same page - pulls up sleeves THEN lights, camera, ACTION!

Trust me, the latter is better, sweeter, and way easier (for me).

But NOT necessarily the task - tough and challenging REQUIRES us. Fruitful exhaustion gives 'good' sleep.

Share what works for you. And remember: there are many kinds of prayer. We'll come to those later. What does prayer mean to you?

You are

strong - brave - capable - valued - gifted - possessed of joy, hope, peace and love - treasured - entrusted - loved - courageous

It's a RELATIONSHIP
