Being Fit

. . . .

If you are not mindful you will inhabit someone else's dream.

A mindless boy can set his life aside and when he is a man forget where he had set it and spend an awful time searching every which way to find it, for if he doesn't search for it he will regret it, and if he doesn't find it he will hate himself for it.

Nothing on earth exists then to console him.

Pastoral Quotes

Gratitude - a Joyful Celebration

"Commitment doesn't arise out of a hope for reward, but out of gratitude about the generosity of God's love toward us, for greater love hath no man, no woman, than this - no person - that that person laid down his life or her life or their life for a friend."

"On the cross He (Jesus) became everything that we are in order that we might become everything that He is."

"Sins are forgiven, forgotten, buried in the deepest sea. Listen to this: remembered no more."

5 Enriching Virtues

Let your light shine.

What's up with that? Growing up I did not understand why some horses wore bridles and blinders. I asked my mother. Her lips spoke more wisdom than her tongue. "Those pull loaded buggies and wagons, my son. On command."

Welcome to gen-u enriching values, Episode 2, curated by your host Neville DeAngelou, a dynamic exploration and implementation of FIVE practical virtues that fortify as well as enhance personal and communal health, wealth and happiness, each actuated toward wholeness of being.

cunning: the skill of achieving one's ends by deceit or evasion. crafty, wily, foxy, canny, sly, devious, duplicitous, scheming, calculating

Grrrrr! Arf, arf.

Along our remarkable journey of life and learning we relish actionable discoveries, particularly those that uplift and inspire the "best" from all of us, promote harmony, expand opportunities, exemplify beauty, and reveal wonder, in other words, whatever advances our practice of genuine love through all of its fertile dimensions!

Prudence has suffered a long-run beating, a mysogynistic slapping-around. I found her in chains, imprisoned beneath a deck with cowards and cynics. I was tempted to inquire how all this came to be, but the urgency of the moment shook me back to my senses. We escaped out into the light. Yet still, even more so out in this now-world a rude (if selfish) but deeper question nagged me about her: who needs you now; haven't you all but lost your beauty - your legendary superforce; aren't you damaged goods? We'll see.

ah, the sweet pleasure of an exhausting day knowing
- you accomplished being & doing the best you could -

Super Power infusion

I have no idea how virginity and virtue got conjoined into one personality in my mind. Someone must have been messing in my head while I was asleep. I had to perform delicate surgery to pull the two out into the wholeness of what each is. Fascinating.

Prudence is a virtue. Not a virgin. We will deal with our vrigin some other time. Prudence is no prude either. Not even born of the same seed. No wonder! Now I am excited.

Here is what I'm finding throughout our passionate affair, and I must also say I'm really liking our daily routines, so much so I'm being lifted into, well, how should one describe precisely a su·per·ca·li·fra·gil·is·tic·ex·pi·a·li·do·cious experience - Stratospheric? Profoundly transformative? A new air so mint fresh clean it is revitalizing? - Let's say love perfumes the air in the presence of Prudence.

The truth of my assessment is that she needs a rebirth, a new identity, a new name for our times. However, she hasn't come to terms with me on this latter resolution - not just yet. See if you agree with me on my rebirthing solution, at least after you also have rediscovered her true character. Here we will observe why ancients considered prudence the highest of virtues upon which all other virtues hinge. It is fascinating.

Prudence - a tripartite super power

Holmesian Insight Super Cat Efficiency An Ethical Imperative

superb rationality: the focused ability to reason sensibly, that is, to think critically & resolve judiciously even in ambiguous environments.

the ability to efficiently and effectively negotiate the most profitable path to one's destination even through a thick jungle infested with danger.

the wherewithal and desire to be consistently informed and directed by our universal standard of right and wrong, which considers communal wellbeing.

Those, of course, delineate the natural abilities of prudence fully fledged at the level of mastery. No one begins at the end point. It is a process.

Establishing a deep and enduring relationship with Prudence is no different from what it takes to build any valued loving long term relationship. Mesmerizing. Trying. Rewarding. Trusted. Fun. In the process we train ourselves to make chioces conducive to a more enriched life experience.

As an inhabited virtue prudence is the active practice of habits that bolster and boost an individual's capacity in the following manner:

a) to improve (even perfect) one's ability to architect the most effective path to an achievable goal

b) to habitually execute actions that are aligned with understood truth and known reality, and

c) to be consistently bent toward personal and communal wellbeing.

Embracing prudence is not about being a know-it-all nor about delaying decisive action in order to first know it all; it is about effectively exercising one's facility within the construct of one's prevailing reality. It is a practice - an ongoing practice - not merely an awareness. It begins with the little things - those baby steps - our daily habits. It progresses along the journey.

Being prudent is not about being prudish. Being prudish is not a virtue. Huge difference.

One wants to create environments in which prudence (virtue) flourishes. Let the prudes have their own days in court - justly - and rather not be distracted by that spectacle while courage blazes a braver path.

Prudence is a quiet beauty.

So one might rightly ask, why then was Prudence found in chains?

Lacking moral fiber to hone the skills she possesses, what is likely to be cunning's inclination toward Prudence? I don't truly know, but I'll hazard a guess. And I do suspect that that question may well be the better barometer of why prudence often ends up being shoved aside, bad-mouthed, birtherized, demonized, debased, devalued, tagged with a scarlet letter as brooding, slow, cut throat, selfish, crookish. Yes?

But I don't know.

I have discovered that it is not prudence who suffers as a result of this demonization. Rather, it is those of us who need her most that are disadvantaged by her absence. It is our journey that is subverted. It is our will and purpose that are duly undermined. It is for us, my dear friends (should we be suffering lingering remnants of long held prejudices), that I have undertaken to offer prudence a new identity in this new world of ours which requires us to be fiercely agile and nimble.

Yes, I have renamed her.

First, I asked myself how do we purge ourselves of debilitating micro-biases. Then I sought out how to revitalize ourselves to want freely to develop new habits consistent with an enriched life, one that is focused, balanced and in rhythm with the good life, one that offers health, wealth and happiness in nimble harmonious wholesome environs? We need new blood, I said to myself. Then I said, Aha, I know who and what you truly are in our times, you who have come from on high to dwell amongst us. I know who you are, therefore, with the powers vested in me by the joys of life I now rename you, on our behalf, Ninja Blood.

Life: it is a dance. It gets better with practice; its music is in your heart and in your soul and in your blood and in your bones. Life; it is a dance. You have a partner. It is your spirit. You can have a party if you want; you ought to choose who should be invited to it, for life - your life - is a dance that get's better with practice, unless you choose to stop the music or so crowd your dance floor there is no space left to move or be moved within it. Life; it is a dance. It gets better with practice.

Love: what is it in the crisis of deep wronging. "The prince, at all her rejections, grew in his want and fell ever more deeply in love with the beauty, so he secluded himself. He scoured the ancients for the right answer. He penned poem after poem and searched his soul again and again. The more he searched, the more he wanted her. The more he wanted her, the more he penned. The depth of his desire was unparalleled, such that the sight of every other woman was as sand tossed into his eyes." (Flight Of The Fused Monkey)

Come, let us all be friends for once,
Let us make life easy on us,
Let us be lovers and loved ones,
The earth shall be left to no one.

A Place Where Wonders Never Cease?

This idea ignited him.

He stretched his mind, marveling at the possibility of such a place: a place where wonders never cease!

Holy Carabunga. Wow!

If there is not such a place, there ought to be such a place. A place where wonders never cease! Just think of it: somewhere out there exists a place of wonder after wonder after wonder after wonder! It's a place where wonders never cease.

Can this be true?

- Flight Of The Fused Monkeys

“Success is the product of daily habits not a once in a lifetime transformation.”

James Clear

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

- Rudyard Kipling

Where Do You Want To Go?

What is holding you back?

Reality: There is a thing called phantom pain. For example, a person may feel pain in a leg even though that person doesn't have that leg anymore. To that person this pain is real. Persons may be carrying around phantom burdens that have been long gone - removed - but they are still fetching the load. It is advisable to get a new reality. Unburden the load. Take off the bridle and blinders and look around for a moment or two. Look again. Take a new step. See? Go.

Practice: Believe. Get good advice. Surround yourself with authentic people for whom you are an authentic benefit and who would benefit you. Decide. Take action. God is not holding you back from being the best you could be, but if you believe God is holding you back then God is holding you back. Just hang in there.
